About
A few years back, we had a simple idea: the best Alaska experiences happen when you slow down and let things unfold naturally.
So we opened up our cabin at Warm Springs Bay. For years now, guests have been coming out to disconnect, to wake up to eagles calling, watch bears fishing for salmon, fall asleep to nothing but the sound of the tide. They've given us 5-star reviews, not because we're fancy (we're not), but because it's the real deal.
Now we're doing the same thing on the water.
Two Boats, Two Different Adventures
We've got two boats, and they're each good for different things:
Our 24-foot Specmar is for day trips — six people max. No crowds, no rushing from spot to spot. Just you, us, and whatever shows up that day. Could be humpback whales bubble-net feeding. Could be a mom otter floating her pup on her belly. Could be a brown bear working the beach for salmon. We go where the day takes us.
Our 42-foot Skookum is a whole different story. This is for overnight trips — multi-day runs out to Baranof Warm Springs, and also for cocktail cruises in the harbor, or for getting into remote corners of the Sound that you can't reach in a day. You sleep on board, wake up in places most people never get to see. It's not about ticking boxes — it's about actually being out there.
What Makes Us Different?
We're not tour operators who happen to own boats. This is our life. Our daughters — Haley (11), Kiera (9), and Quinn (6) — grew up on these boats and out at the cabins. They know which beaches have the good tide pools, where the otters hang out, why the eagles all show up at certain spots when the salmon are running. When we say we know these waters, we mean our whole family does.
We've been doing this at Warm Springs Bay for years — just check the reviews. Now we're bringing that same approach to the water, whether it's a morning on the Specmar or a few days on the Skookum.
Small groups. People who actually live here. No scripts. Just real connection with this place — from folks who genuinely call it home.
What You Can Expect:
Specmar day tours: Six people max (usually 3-4)
Skookum overnight trips: Small groups, we go to the local hidey-hole anchorages
Every trip changes based on conditions and what we're seeing
Captains who know these waters inside and out
Same standards that got us those 5-star cabin reviews
Whether you're out for a morning watching whales, spending a few days on the Skookum, or staying at one of our cabins, you're not just booking a tour. You’re booking an exploration — not only of the Tongass, but of what it means to live year-round in the world’s largest rainforest.
